Bruins' Kelley wins top honor

December 20, 2016

He's often called 'the coach who never punts.' Today, he can be called one of the top coaches in the country.

Two weeks removed from wrapping up his third-straight Class 5A championship, Pulaski Academy head coach Kevin Kelley has been named the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Football Coach of the Year.

Kelley has served as Pulaski Academy's head coach since 2002, amassing a 165-21-1 record. According to the coach, his biggest accomplishment during his tenure is not the multiple championships and honors he's earned, but the fact that people are buying into his unique style of football.

"When I first came, I thought there was no way I would be here in 20 years," Kelley said. "I have some out-there ideas. People wear out their welcome when they're like that."

Kelley's unique coaching style has been featured by multiple national sports outlets, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, NFL Films and HBO Real Sports.
